You may have heard that Walt Disney World increased pricing on many snacks and drinks earlier this week. Significant hikes can be seen at outdoor kiosks and counter service restaurants on items like fountain drinks, bottled water and popcorn. Does this mean that prices for the Disney Dining Plan will go up in 2019? That has yet to be seen, and we’ll certainly keep you posted when we learn more.
While we wait to see how this plays out, we started thinking about our favorite savory and sweet treats found throughout Walt Disney World. Here are our five favorite snacks in no particular order - because how can one Mickey-shaped snack rank higher than another?
5. Mickey Pretzel
This one is for our kids - they love the chewy, crispy goodness of one of the most iconic Disney snacks. We adults are not really sure if Mickey Pretzels taste any better than the pretzels found at our local Sam’s Club or pro sports team concession stand (which are really good by the way); BUT those pretzels aren’t surrounded by the enchantment and whimsy found at Walt Disney World. And we ARE 100% confident that Mickey Pretzels taste better in Magic Kingdom than in any of the other parks.
4. Dole Whip Float
Ah, the cult-classic snack of Walt Disney World. There might not be a snack more perfect to enjoy in the hot, humid Florida sun. The pineapple soft-serve mixed with the tangy, fresh, cold pineapple juice helps keep you cool and is light enough to avoid weighing you down for the day. No trip to Walt Disney World is complete without at least one (five) Dole Whip Float(s).
3. Churros
The Walt Disney World churro is another favorite - crispy and sugary on the outside while soft and tender on the inside. Not to mention that churros come with a side of chocolate sauce. Who doesn’t love a dunkable snack? Churros are so popular that Walt Disney World and Disneyland visitors consume more than 5.5 million of them every year!
2. Mickey Bar
There’s a reason why you’ll see Mickey Bar icons with the “ear” eaten on t-shirts worn by thousands of park-goers. Because this is more than a cute snack, people. There’s nothing better than that first bite when you crack the hard chocolate shell then get to the smooth vanilla ice cream. Be sure to eat it quickly before it melts - not that it’s a problem for us!
1. Charcuterie Plate
Who says that Walt Disney World snacks have to be sugary, sweet, frozen or carb-heavy? It is possible to have a sophisticated bite in the midst of Toy Story Land and Frozen Ever After. We found this surprise charcuterie plate in the Boardwalk area after a full day at Epcot. The glass of cabernet and cocktail weren’t too shabby either!
