There’s no question that Walt Disney World is a magical place. A place where dreams come true. For many little girls, that dream consists of becoming a princess. Disney’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique offers an enchanted experience for youngsters to transform into resplendent royalty. Cristy Rivero, Beyond Imagination Vacations agent, shares her four-year-old daughter’s recent makeover into her favorite princess, Cinderella.
Living in Miami and being an Annual Passholder, my family is lucky to be able to visit Walt Disney World frequently. Although we visit several times per year every year, we hadn’t booked a reservation at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique until our last visit in May 2019. It was the most magical experience EVER. The joy and smile on my daughter’s face was worth every penny. This is why I love Disney - they make dreams come true. If you’re visiting with your daughter, granddaughter or niece, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience is a must. Before you book your reservation, I’m sharing five tips to make the most of your visit.
Magic Kingdom and Beyond
When people think of Walt Disney World’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, they envision the location at Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom. And rightfully so. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo are the enchanted words sung by Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother as she magically morphed an orange pumpkin into a carriage and brown mice into white horses.
But there is another boutique where magic happens. Disney Springs, the entertainment district, houses a second Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique - making the magical makeover possible on a day when you’re not visiting the parks. Its location in the Marketplace area near The VOID and Once Upon a Toy will keep other family members - big brother, perhaps - occupied while little sis enjoys her makeover. A third location at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is scheduled to open in summer 2019.
If you book your reservation at the Magic Kingdom salon, please remember that theme park admission is required.
Before You Go
Although magic knows no age, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience does have age restrictions. Only princesses from the age of three to 12 can receive the makeover magic - and they must be accompanied by an adult. If older siblings, or Mom perhaps, want to join in the fun, consider one of the Character Couture packages offered at the Disney resort salons.
Widely popular, advance reservations are strongly recommended for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at both the Magic Kingdom and Disney Springs locations. Like the most popular restaurants, you want to secure your reservation when the window opens - 180 days before your trip. Guests staying at a Disney resort hold an advantage as they can book 180 days from arrival day plus 10 days out, while guests staying off property can also book 180 days in advance of their trip but only one day at a time.
Also like dining, you can secure your Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reservation via My Disney Experience. You will need a credit card to guarantee the reservation, but you will not be charged until the day of your makeover. Disney does charge a cancellation fee of $10 for no-shows and if the reservation is cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled reservation time.
On the day of your reservation, be sure that your princess-to-be’s hair is clean and brushed. To save on the cost, you are allowed to bring your own dress rather than purchasing one at the boutique. Hopefully, it’s not too puffy so it can fit in a backpack. Or you can rent a locker at Magic Kingdom. Lastly, be sure to bring cash as tipping is allowed. And the Fairy Godmothers -in-Training do such a great job, you’ll want to show your appreciation.

Not Just for Girls
Boy moms - I hope that you’re still reading because Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique isn’t just for girls! Boys can receive magical makeovers and be transformed into brave knights. The base package at $19.95 plus tax includes a dashing new hairdo, mighty sword and shield, and confetti. At $79.95 plus tax, the deluxe package adds a prince costume.
If your little ones are more adventurous than regal, the Pirates League in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom offers another option for makeovers for boys and girls alike. They can be transformed into swashbuckling pirates or mermaids.
Post Pixie Dust
There is nothing more magical than seeing your daughter’s expression after the Fairy Godmother-in-training sprinkles her final pixie dust and swivels the makeover chair to face the mirror. It’s a memory neither of you will forget. Although it will be hard to remove her from the chair and looking at herself in awe, there is more fun to be had.
You’ll be directed to a photo session with a Disney PhotoPass photographer for no additional charge. Photo packages are available for purchase, but Mom and Dad are allowed to capture the moment as well with their own cameras. The PhotoPass images will be linked to your Memory Maker account, allowing for free, unlimited downloads of the professional photos taken.
Now for the real fun - walking around Magic Kingdom or Disney Springs made up as a princess. The new princesses and knights are allowed to tour the park with their new regal fashion. During the summer months, you may want to make a reservation first thing in the morning so your little one can enjoy her makeover for a few hours before the heat and humidity take over. Or you can schedule an appointment in the evening hours. Regardless of the timing, be sure to meet and take photos with other Disney princesses after your little one’s makeover.
